Il Viaggio di Ulisse. Un Itinerario Culturale Euromediterraneo

Obiettivo del progetto è la promozione del dialogo interculturale nel Mediterraneo attraverso la valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale dei siti coinvolti e la ricostituzione, in una prospettiva contemporanea, dei legami che anticamente accomunavano luoghi così lontani. Si propone la realizzazione di itinerario culturale fondato sul “viaggio di Ulisse” e strutturato in partenariato con ICOMOS - UNESCO, che promuova un turismo culturale sostenibile e di qualità seguendo i principi della Convenzione di Faro e dell’Agenda Onu 2030 per “rafforzare e proteggere il patrimonio culturale e naturale”. The journey of Ulysses, narrated by Homer in the Odyssey, is one of the most fascinating stories ever, where myth mixes with reality, and events over time BECOME a paradigm with strong symbolic values, still current today. This project proposes guidelines for the construction of a cultural itinerary which, through the knowledge of local places and identities, promotes scientific research and prospects new strategies of youth education, favours intercultural dialogue, sustainable development, collaborators in the building of a peaceful and dramatic society, in line with the values promoted by the Council of Europe, thus contributing to the prospect of peace and prosperity. The project, focusing its incipit on shared values, intends to promote the knowledge, enhancement and use of everything (identity, material and intangible, cultural and natural) heritage of which the places affected by the itinerary are keepers. this will happen starting from the unesco sites in their vicinity, through the establishment of a sustainable tourism network in order to trigger or consolidate virtuous processes of economic and social growth for the territories involved. Properly planned and responsibly managed cultural tourism, by establishing forms of governance in which different cultures, rights holders and stakeholders participate, can be a powerful vehicle for cultural heritage conservation and sustainable development. Responsible tourism promotes and creates awareness of cultural heritage, provides opportunities for individual and community well-being and resilience, and creates respect for the diversity of other cultures. It can therefore contribute to intercultural dialogue and cooperation, mutual understanding and peace building. A further objective of the project is to create a lasting network of scientific cooperation, which in addition to cultural and natural heritage, is concerned with contrasting climate change, in the field of ecological transition, which finds a valid basis in the European Green New Deal, in order to increase the well-being of current communities and future generations. The project is inspired by a new growth strategy aimed at making society just and prosperous, with a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy, in which economic growth will be dissociated from the use of resources. According to these premises, the implementation of the idea requires an integrated approach, which according to a multidisciplinary logic, takes into account cultural, environmental and economic-social issues, combining resources, knowledge and skills.
